Agenda: Curbing the Influence of Paramilitary Forces and Ensuring Civilian Protection Amidst Widespread Violence in Sudan.

After decades of armed conflict and political instability, private armies and paramilitary forces operate with impunity in Sudan. The lines between state and non-state actors have been blurred with the ongoing violence, leaving civilians trapped between competing powers and cycles of bloodshed.

Delegates will tackle the challenge of disarming paramilitary entities whose ambitions transcend borders and whose actions threaten the very foundations of sovereignty and humanity. They will examine the restoration of legitimate state authority, while ensuring the protection of the civilian population.

This is a test of diplomacy at its most human. As the prominent Sudanese chant echoes — “He who has no mercy is a traitor.”
